Plymouth Gin Refectory Bar
- Culture and Leisure
Le Page Architects were commissioned to design a new bespoke cocktail bar for the popular Refectory cocktail lounge withing the Grade II* listed Plymouth Gin Distillery.
The intention was to retain the long form of the existing bar but provide a smart new aesthetic to reflect the evolving brand identity of Plymouth Gin.
The new design introduces a rich palette of materials, with a reeded walnut bar front, polished copper edging and kick plate. A new moulded profile quartz counter with copper veining finishes the bar top to provide a striking yet highly practical surface that can withstand the demands of constant use and busy evening cocktail service.
In addition, essential adjustments were made to improve the ergonomics of the waiter stations along the back bar, completing the new design to create a highly efficient statement piece within the impressive medieval hall.
