Celebrations as Devonport Column Opens to the Public on 11th May.
As part of the wider regeneration of Plymouth’s Devonport, the restoration of Devonport Column was the second part of a phase of redevelopment work began in 2008 with the repair and fit-out of Devonport Guildhall, completed in February 2010. After the success of the Guildhall, social enterprise The Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) secured further funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund in the form of a grant of £685,000 to restore the iconic Devonport Column.
